The Orange County Education Coalition
On Feb. 6, 2008, SAEA President Dr. David Barton spoke at a news conference on behalf of the Orange County Education Coalition. The Coalition, which consists of representatives from CTA, AFT, the School Boards Association, CSEA and the Superintendents Association and others, has come together to deal with the school funding crisis brought about by the Governor's proposed budget. By a vote of the membership (88% voting yes), the Tentative Agreement between the Santa Ana Unified School District and the Santa Ana Educators' Association was approved on April 30, 2007. The Santa Ana Unified School Board subsequently voted to approve the Tentative Agreement on May 8, 2007.
